Mouse Removal -The Basics
Funny how stuff happens you know? The other day I was just doing my usually chores – cleaning the house. I happened to “luck” into a few presents that a “friend” of mine had left behind. The present was a dropping and the friend was a mouse. Needless to say, I was a little freaked out. I had never had a mouse problem before, let alone a bad one. Rather than doing the right thing and purchasing a “mouse removal for dummies” book or learning a thing or two on the internet, I just went right ahead with the whole deal like I was a pro or something. What had happened was a pregnant female somehow got into the house, probably because I had left the sliding door open for a few minutes, and had babies in my home. That was the best that I could come up with because I did end up catching about five babies and one adult mouse.
So, what I would like to share here is the basics of deterring mice. The most ideal situation possible would be to have a home setup where there was no possible way for mice to gain an entrance, however this is usually not the case. You see, mice are good at what they do. They are tricky, clever little fellows if you ask me. If there is a way for them to break into a home for a few crumbs and a shelter, then they will find it. One thing that many people don’t even know is that many mice jump off of branches onto homes and rummage through that way, or at least that is one of my theories.
So what is there to learn from all of this? Is there some special form of mouse deterrent? There is something – I will tell you that much. Keep a clean house and almost half of rodent problems can be solved without even using mouse deterrents. Mice are scavenging creatures that are always looking for any tasty morsel of food that they can find. With no bits of old food laying around, they will have to go elsewhere to get some fast food. However, they will still more than likely find their way into a home during the winter when seeking warmth. This is why getting rid of these rodents is so tough - they are extremely persistent. They seek food, water, and shelter often from the homes of people.
